For the past 15 years, world-renowned French filmmaker Claire Denis and composer Stuart Staples—best known as the primary singer and songwriter for groundbreaking British chamber rock band Tindersticks—have engaged in an inspired and fruitful collaboration. Tindersticks: Claire Denis Film Scores 1996–2009 is live music & film project and a new recording. The UK October tour is the live music/cinema project where, in the first part of the show, the archive has been scoured to assemble strikingly sensual and alternately meditative and shocking clips from Nénette et Boni, Trouble Every Day, Friday Night, The Intruder, 35 Shots of Rum and White Material (the 2010 stunner featuring Isabelle Huppert). Viewed—and heard—anew, Denis’s singular images will soar on screen as the band’s live music envelops the concert hall. The second part is a concert performance set by Tindersticks. The projects was set in motion by an invitation from the San Francisco Film Festival to perform in May 2011 and the project has since gathered interest and momentum. Claire Denis Film Scores 1996 – 2009, a boxed set collection of 6 Claire Denis film soundtracks that will be available for the first time together on cd and vinyl from 26th April 2011 and the live music/film show will also premier in London at the South Bank Centre on the same date. On Saturday September 11th in a marquee at The Red Lion, Thornby, will be the first (of many we hope) music festival. Music kicks off at around 3.00 pm with local band (all 3 members live within 5 miles of the venue) Chasetown, playing a lot of self penned songs, with a few covers thrown in. See their entry in Northampton Bands. Following on at around 5.00 pm will be Pearl Handled Revolver, playing their 'dirty blues'. This 5 piece hail from the Beds/Bucks area, and are well established in that area. You can catch up with them on Youtube and MySpace. The final band will be popular act Streetwise, with their renowned front man Johnny Pugh, and their brand of R&B/Soul. There will also be a hog roast BBQ, with 6 real ales available. You cannot afford to miss this event. See 'The Red Lion, Thornby' website for directions. |
